Hi guys, after installing 8.1 and other updates after the 8.1 patch.. i noticed that my SM Bus Controllers and my Ethernet Controllers do dont work (yellow exclamation points next to them in device manager. ) tried reinstalling drivers but nothing works... tried letting windows search for drivers and nothing works.
i also noticed that corsair link wont detect anything (this all happened at the same time.)
I just spent a pretty penny on my Mark S and a Core i5 4690k so i would like to get everything working properly!
Please help me...
- Here is how to fix your Windows 7 SM Bus Controller issue with ASRock Extreme (mine is 6) series motherboard. 0.1a - Go to Start, Right click the word Computer, then click MANAGE. 0.1b - Click on.
- Dec 3, 2014 - I built a computer using an MSI Z97-G45 Gaming board. I have not clue want the sm bus controller is to even know how to fix the issue. It was a problem with the motherboard memory and how it split with the video card.

Recently, my ssd became unallocated and I have no idea why. My OS went back to w7 pro and for some reason I couldn’t boot with my primary hdd which also has w10 (I have 3 drives a 120gb ssd for boot, and two 1tb drives one which had win10 x64 like the ssd and a backup win7 pro I guess for shit like this). When I went to allocate it I got a prompt to initialize the disk so the Logical Disk Manager can allocate it. After a while, ~30mins, an error pops up a that says, “The request could not be performed because off an I/O device error.” Well that’s weird, let me google that. Oh shit I don’t have any internet. Hit troubleshoot button and it says driver not detected. Ok look for drivers, then windows literally tells me to look online and ask a friend for help. Wow thanks troubleshooter, I would do that but I don’t have fucking internet.
I go into the device manager and notice there’s no network adapters tab and there’s an Orher devices tab that has 4 divices that don’t have drivers. Ethernet Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Comtroller, and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. I try disabling and reenabling all of them, then uninstalling to them and restarting the computer. Nothing works. So I google and find out it might be the motherboard software that got corrupt so I try to go to MSI.com because someone said you should be able to connect to the website your mobo is from even if you don’t have the internet drivers installed. Doesn’t work. I bought the Pc prebuilt from a friend who buys and sells PCs online so I don’t have the driver disks that come in the box. Can I do anything or am I fucked?
Sorry for the long post I tried to include anything and everything I could think of just in case something that seems unrelated to me is the actual problem.
